How do I pay my bill online?
Using our portal allows you to pay your bill online and check your tank monitor in real time! You can also easily access payment history. If you are not already logged in, you can select the “request access” button on the login page of bumgarnerpropane.net.
What is a compliance fee?
At Bumgarner Propane, we believe in transparency and customer care. The “Compliance Fee,” also referred to as the Safety Practices & Training Fee, helps cover some of our safety-related costs, including vehicle and facility inspections, as well as employee training and testing. This fee is a fixed charge and does not vary with the volume of propane delivered. This is a standard practice for the propane industry.
How do I read a propane gauge?
The gauge can be found under the tank dome or cover. It is important to note that the gauge displays the fill level as a percentage. Propane tanks are only filled to 80% to allow room for the gas to expand when heated. Find out more about your propane gauge here! Bumgarner Propane installs tank monitors on every tank, so using our portal will allow you to check your tank percentage anytime anywhere! Plus, if you are on automatic delivery, you will never have to worry about it–we ensure you never run out of gas.
Why isn't my tank filled to 100% capacity?
Propane tanks are only filled to 80% of their capacity, or the “80% fill rule,” as a safety precaution to allow for the gas to expand when heated. Propane can increase in volume by nearly 17 times more than water when heated to the same temperature, and if the tank is full, and the temperature rises, it can become dangerous. The extra space in the tank acts as a cushion to prevent pressure from building up and exceeding the tank’s capacity.
What is a propane tank monitor?
A propane monitor is a device used to track and manage the propane levels in your tank. It allows us to remotely monitor each customer’s tank and plan our routes accordingly to ensure you never run out of propane.
What appliances can be powered by propane?
Propane can fuel a variety of appliances in your home, including, but not limited to: Stovetops and ovens, water heaters, grills, clothes dryers, refrigerators, and fireplaces.
Do you sell small 20-pound gas tanks for gas grills?
No, we do not.
Do you offer automatic delivery?
Yes, we offer automatic delivery! And with the tank monitoring on all of our tanks, we can ensure you are worry-free when it comes to your propane supply.
What happens if I switch from another company?
We offer FREE tank swaps for all above ground tanks! The process is as easy as possible. Your previous provider does not need to move the tank. We submit the letter of intent and move the existing tank out of your way (the customer) and place our tank. The other company does not have to remove their tank first.
Why do I need a propane tank safety check?
To understand why leak tests are needed for your propane system, you first have to understand some basics about how propane equipment works.
Propane systems use plumbing pipes to connect the main supply of propane (your propane tank) to appliances in your home. Propane gas is forced through these pipes, creating pressure on pipe fittings and the hardening compounds that seal them. As gas pressure varies, pipes joints and seals weaken; over time, this could lead to a gas leak. A leak test checks the integrity of these joints and seals.
How often do I need a propane tank leak check?
Federal law requires propane leak tests to be performed any time there is an interruption of service–that is, any time the flow of gas has stopped for any reason.
Is my tank monitor free?
Automatic customers enjoy free tank monitoring, while will-call customers pay an annual $50 fee for the monitor.
Can I pre-buy propane at a locked in price?
Yes! Call us to discuss pre-buy options and details.
What if I run out of gas?
The perk of being on automatic is – we don’t let you run out! However, fi there is some sort of error in the system and you run out, we will get the propane delivered immediately and apply a credit to your account. Will-call customers are responsible for monitoring their own propane supply, therefore they may have to wait until the next route day for a fill-up or pay an off-route delivery fee.
If I'm a will-call customer, when should I call and order a delivery?
When your tank is at 25%, you should call to place an order.
Should I get a Carbon Monoxide(CO) or Propane Gas Detector
Yes! Many building codes require carbon monoxide detectors to be installed outside each bedroom entrance. Propane gas detectors add extra safety in the rare case propane loses its odor. Never ignore the smell of propane! Leave the area immediately, shut off your gas, and call us as well as 911 to report the leak.
